APCM 2021

Sunday 23rd May, 11.30am, St James' Benwell

The 'Annual Parochial Church Meeting' meets once a year and receives reports on changes to the electoral roll, general parish activities, and finances. It is also when we elect members of the PCC and churchwardens.

This year's meeting will be held directly after the Sunday morning service. To avoid excessive meetings during the pandemic we will combine ADCMs (Annual District Church Meetings) to happen at the same time (these will run consecutively prior to the APCM).

There are some forms and paperwork below which you can complete by downloading and emailing the completed form or bringing it to church. Or you can contact us to request a paper copy.

GLOSSARY

APCM

'Annual Parochial Church Meeting'. The yearly meeting of a parish church where we review and have our say on the governance of the church.

ADCM

'Annual District Church Meeting'. Similar to the APCM but specific to each of the four churches in our parish.

PCC

'Parish Church Council'. The group of representatives we elect to make decisions on the governance of the parish. As PCCs are recognised as charities the members are therefore the trustees of the charity.

DCC

'District Church Council'. Similar to the PCC but specific to each of the four churches in our parish.

Electoral Roll

This is the register of the Parish's voting members; it is a list of those qualified to vote at the APCM. To join you have to be a baptised adult (over 16 years) who lives in the parish, or who has worshipped regularly in one of our churches for at least six months.

Church Wardens

Elected annually at the APCM. They are Bishop's officers, meaning that they are appointed by the Bishop to be responsible for the day-to-day running of a parish along with the parish priest. It is a demanding voluntary role as they have a duty to represent the views of the congregation and care for our buildings and their contents.

ANNUAL REPORT

Watch this space! We will upload reports on what has been happening in the parish over the last year, from what's going on in the community to our finances.

Join the Electoral Roll

Joining the Electoral Roll is an official way of saying you are part of our community and the wider Church of England. It gives you a vote on how we run our church.

To join you have to be a baptised adult (over 16 years) who either lives in the parish or has worshipped regularly in one of our churches for at least six months.
